Morphine Pump
Intrathecal delivery of pain killing medicine (e.g. morphine) directly to the space surrounding the spinal cord by a small pump through a surgically placed tube provides direct control of intractable pain. When other methods of pain relief fail to work, this method produces significant pain control with powerful medications at much lower doses than would be tolerable if given to the whole body as pills.
